QNMU - Membership Services Officer


The Queensland Nurses and Midwives’ Union is currently seeking a Membership Services Officer in its West End location.

The QNMU is the industrial and professional organisation for nurses and midwives working in public and private health and aged care in Queensland.

The QNMU seeks to promote and defend the industrial, professional, social, political and democratic interests of over 67,000 members.

We have over 190 employees including organisers, professionals and administrative personnel, and manage a multi-million-dollar operating budget.

In this role of Membership Clerk (internal position title), you will work as part of a small team and be the first point of contact for our members. You will be responsible for providing exceptional service on all matters relating to our members’ membership with the QNMU, responding to their enquiries via phone and email, processing new member applications, ensuring accurate database management and processing payments.

Who we’re looking for

Apart from being a member service guru, you will be self-directed, with the confidence to communicate with members and problem solve issues that may arise. You have a great phone manner, excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly. You consistently display tact and diplomacy and have the demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  •  Education, training and / or relevant experience equivalent to the completion of Year 12;
  •  Demonstrated intermediate skills in Microsoft Office applications such as MS Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Membership databases such as iMIS;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new processes and systems efficiently;
  • Demonstrated commitment to QNMU’s values, purpose and trade unionism in general;
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team member and take a collaborative approach to work;
  • Relevant experience in a similar membership role (highly desirable)
